Philly Cheesesteak Sliders - the perfect make ahead food for your next game day gathering!
These maybe took me 45 minutes (including cook time) to make and we literally demolished them as soon as I was done making them. Like, we finished them before the first quarter was even over. SO. DANG. GOOD.
*** also: you can use ground beef instead of steak for this for a more economical option.
Here’s how to make ’em:
Ingredients:
- One tablespoon olive oil
- One large onion, thinly sliced
- One green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- One red pepper thinly sliced
- One pound ribeye steak, thinly sliced
- One teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt + pepper to taste
- One pack Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 12 slices of provolone cheese
- 1 tablespoon of butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Garlic aioli:
- One cup of mayo
- One tablespoon minced garlic, or 2 cloves minced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- Pinch of salt and pepper – to taste
- Combine all
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 375
- While your oven is preheating, add the oil to a pan at medium-high heat. Once it’s hot, add the thinly sliced steak to the pan and cook until it’s just done – you don’t want to overcook it! Add your Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper to the pan to season while it’s cooking.
- Once the meat is done, remove it from the pan, add another tablespoon of oil and saute the onion and peppers until they’re soft
- Separate the top and bottom of your rolls by slicing them horizontally, but try to keep the rolls connected to each other (if ya know what I mean). Place the bottoms of the rolls in a greased 9 x 13 pan.
- Spread your garlic aioli on the rolls and then top with 6 slices of your provolone cheese.
- Top the cheese with the cooked steak and then the veggies. After the veggies, put on another 6 slices of provolone cheese. Put the top half of the buns on and you’re almost done!
- Combine your melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder and Italian season and brush onto the top of the buns.
- Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. You can then remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes to melt the cheese and get the tops of the buns all nice and toasty. If the tops get too toasty too quickly you can cover them with foil again. No burned buns!!
- Cut and serve.
